We have collected a fantastic amount of £252.00…Well done everyone!

Ocean Ward is the paediatric cardiac ward at Southampton general hospital, who care for babies and children from all over the south of England and the Channel Islands that have heart problems. Our son was admitted at the age of 4 months for what should have been a 1 night stay, but due to the complexity of his condition he was an inpatient for 4 months, where he received the most dedicated care from the ocean ward staff that I have ever encountered. For us as a family, we never thought we would ever be in the position of our child needing life saving care and it is a very daunting time to be suddenly faced with this very serious situation. It is here that the staff again were absolutely above and beyond brilliant, supporting not only our son, but us and our wider family too.

Many families are long term visitors on the ward as children are recovering from their surgery and in many circumstances have other healthcare requirements that have to be stable before they can be discharged. Families of Ocean Ward is a charity that supports the children treated on Ocean ward during and after their stay, they also raise funds for special equipment for the ward.
