On Saturday 25th February The Demeric School of Dance held it’s 10th Choreography Competition. Children from the dancing school performed dances which they had choreographed and rehearsed themselves, watched by parents, families and friends. Mrs Priscilla De Meric and Silka Mackay kindly gave up their time to adjudicate the Dance Competition.
We would like to congratulate all the children who took part. They produced some wonderful dances which were well rehearsed with some clever ideas and beautifully costumed.
The Winner for Solos was: Elena Lodge with “The Naughty Little Witch” and Runner up for the solo section was Mariella Steijger with “Jar of Hearts”. The Duets Winners were: Sian Besley and Hannah Lodge with  “Clocks” and the joint Runner ups were: Caroline Mercer and Hannah Wood  with  “HeartBeat” with Natalie Rees and Imogen Carruthers with “Pink and Purple”.
Some of the children went up to London and  entered in The London Cecchetti Choreographic Competition held at Cecil Sharp House on Sunday 11th March 2012. Hannah Lodge and Sian Besley were awarded the Musicality Award in the Senior Section. Congratulations to them both and all who took part!
