2023 Season

Welcome to the Surrey Youth Ballet’s 17th Season – ‘Clara’

We are looking for talented boy and girl dancers aged 7 -18 years to join us in 2023. If you are interested in joining us, please complete and send an application form by 16 th April 2023.

By popular demand The Surrey Youth Ballet was founded in 2004 by Sonya Nichols, (Director), who won the coveted Ursula Moreton Choreographic Award whilst at The Royal Ballet’s Upper School.

All students will take part in a 4-day workshop of tuition involving a variety of dance classes and Sunday rehearsals, which lead to the performances of ‘Clara’ and supporting acts in the first half, at The Leatherhead Theatre. 

The Surrey Youth Ballet (SYB) is advantaged in having a qualified faculty who have been trained at a variety of recognised establishments including: The Royal Ballet School, London Studio Centre, Laine Theatre Arts and danced in various companies and on the West-End Stages.

Dates

Audition: Sunday 30 th April 2023

Summer School Workshop: Sunday 27th August-Wednesday 30th August (9-4pm non-residential)

Sunday Rehearsals:10th 24th September 1st 15th October 5th 19th November & 3rd Dec
Technical/Dress Rehearsal: Thursday 7th Dec– 4pm-9pm

Performances

Friday 8th December (7.30pm) and Saturday 9th December (2.30pm & 7.30pm)

Venues

Audition: 141 Hersham Road Walton on Thames

Summer School Workshop & Sunday Rehearsals will be held at:Jubilee High School, Addlestone

Performances will be held at The Leatherhead Theatre, Leatherhead

Cost

The cost of the course is £350. You may pay in 3 instalments.

Dancers will be expected to purchase the Surrey Youth Ballet sweatshirt or T-shirt. They will be expected to provide a new pair of shoes and tights and/or hat for each role
danced. Scholarships are available and will be decided at the Audition. If applying for scholarships – Please write a letter and send with your application form.
